What is mal de?

mal de débarquement syndrome (MdDS) is a rare neurological disorder that causes a persistent sensation of swaying, rocking or bobbing, even after the individual has returned to a stable surface. The symptoms of mal de débarquement syndrome typically begin after a period of exposure to motion as on a ship or airplane, and can last months to years. The exact cause of this syndrome is unclear, but is thought to involve a disturbance in the vestibular system. There is no cure for Mal de Débarquement Syndrome, but symptoms can be improved with medication, vestibular rehabilitation therapy or transcranial magnetic stimulation.
